Improving safety

To fully address these concerns a comprehensive transport strategy has been developed, which includes:

• Improved junction design providing extra highway capacity

• Creating a safer area aroun the school

• Introduction of controlled pedestrian crossings across Lower Bristol Road

• Discrete access to underground parking

• Traffic calming on Brook Road

• Spacious and wide pedestrian access through the site

• Improved linkages across Lower Bristol Road to proposed Bath Western Riverside and to Oldfield Park train station

• Enhanced links to the Two-Tunnels cycle route and new covered and secure cycle stands

• Links to the potential Bus Rapid Transit

• New bus shelters and ‘real time’ information points

• A well formulated Travel Plan that will encourage non-car usage

The overall transport & travel considerations of this proposed scheme have been integrated with the wider Bath Transportation Package (BTP) led by B&NES.
