Over 90% in favour of redevelopment
More than 240 people took part in our public consultation, with the majority stating they were keen to see the site redeveloped and put back into use in a way that benefits the community.
Feedback centred on the following points:
• Retaining Bath’s heritage and architecture
• Ensuring the height of the development does not exceed existing buildings
• Managing increased levels of traffic
• Ensuring parking provision
• Maintaining the community feel of the area and Moorland Road
• Maximising community facilities and services
• Not introducing further student accommodation as part of scheme
The developers have responded to this by incorporating the following measures in the latest plans:
• Although it is not listed, the original Bath Press façade along Lower Bristol Road is being retained as a unique historical feature, with a covered pedestrian walkway incorporated alongside
• Student housing has been replaced with family accommodation at the east end of the site
• Steps will be taken to retain the privacy of South View Road & Denmark Road
• Safety measures will be put in place at Oldfield Park Infant School
